Joan R. Heimer, 91, of Garner, passed away Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Good Samaritan Society in Forest City.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date at St. James Catholic Cemetery in Forest City.
Joan Rose Heimer, the daughter of Aloysius and Julia (Adams) Loecher, was born March 1, 1934, in Stacyville. She attended Visitation Catholic School in Stacyville until the eighth grade. On August 27, 1952, she was married to Jerome Heimer at Visitation Catholic Church in Stacyville. They lived in Stacyville and later moved to a farm east of town in 1962. In 1972, they moved to Crystal Lake and in 1987 to Garner. Joan was a stay-at-home mother until her children grew up and later worked at Winnebago Industries in Forest City. She enjoyed gardening, working puzzles and polka dancing.
She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
Joan is survived by her children, Dwaine (Karen) Heimer of Osage, Joellen Johnson of Olympia, WA, Julie (Paul) Kingsbury of Martin, TN, Joyce Morud of Nora Springs, Corrine Breitspecker of Ames and Daryl (Jostin) Heimer of Garner; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerome; parents; son, Dale Heimer; sons-in-law, Randy Johnson and Fred Breitspecker; grandson, Logan Bruns; and siblings, Helen Wagner, Margaret Mueller and Alfred Loescher.
