Three arrested in connection with shooting in southeast Iowa

FOT MADISON – – On September 23, 2013, at 3:08pm, Ft. Madison Police responded to a report of a gunshot near the alley of the 1400 block between Avenues F and G. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found 25 year old Matthew R. Griffiths lying on the ground and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Witnesses at the scene reported that they saw a silver car leave the area after hearing the gunshot. Griffiths was transported by ambulance to the Ft. Madison Community Health Center and then immediately air lifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Griffiths is being treated and recovering from his injuries.

Since that time, the Ft. Madison Police Department, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Burlington Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation have continued to investigate the shooting. On September 26, 2013, three individuals were arrested and charged in connection with the incident. Heather D. Mears, age 23, and Terrell N. Wilson, age 20, both of Burlington, Iowa, have been charged with Aiding and Abetting Robbery 1st Degree, a class B felony. In addition, Paul A. Wilkins Jr., age 22, also of Burlington, has been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder and Robbery 1st Degree, both class B felonies, in connection with the shooting.

feed all three of them to the hogs they will make good fertilizer there not good for anything else clearly
