MASON CITY – The Mason City Fire Department, Nora Springs Fire Department and Clear Lake Fire Department responded to a serious two vehicle accident on the Avenue of the Saints, at the 190 mile marker, Friday afternoon.
A Cerro Gordo Deputy at the scene said, “The white car, driven by the female, going east bound, entered the median and came into the west bound lane. I believe that the other car, occupied by two people, were in the slow lane and they hit head on.”
The silver car also started on fire and was extinquished by the Fire Department. “The couple signed off on medical with just scrapes and bruises,” informed the officer.
The female, driving the white car, was unresponsive and transported to Mercy Medical Hospital in Mason City.
Iowa State Patrol was also at the scene assisting.
Katz Towing and Affordable Towing retrieved the vehicles that ended up in the north ditch of the westbound lane.
