Northern Iowa man busted with meth after erratic driving

HAWKEYE - A caller reported this Northern Iowa man for his questionable driving techniques, and cops nabbed him and took away his meth stash.

HAWKEYE – A caller reported this Northern Iowa man for his questionable driving techniques, and cops nabbed him and took away his meth stash.

On August 23, 2025, at approximately 8:24 AM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office received a driving complaint of an erratic driver near Hawkeye. Deputies were able to apprehend a white 2000 GMC Sierra truck for traffic infractions on T Avenue near 160th Street, approximately five miles SW of Hawkeye.

After further investigation, the driver was determined to be 34-year-old Cole Lea McCrea of Sumner, Iowa. McCrea was arrested and charged with:

– Driving while Barred (Aggravated Misdemeanor)

– Driving while license Suspended (Simple Misdemeanor)

– Possession of a Controlled Substance – Meth 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor).

McCrea was transported to the Fayette County Jail where he awaits an initial appearance.
