MASON CITY – As work continues on 6th Street SW several intersection closings are planned over the next two weeks. On Monday October 8th, 6th Street SW will be closed at Jackson Avenue for the replacement of a sanitary sewer manhole. The intersection is expected to be closed for several days to allow for the replacement of the manhole and pavement cure time. Businesses located east of Jackson Avenue will be vehicle accessible from Monroe Avenue.
Once Jackson Avenue is completed, the following streets intersecting 6th Street SW will also be closed for period of several days each as sewer and water improvements are completed; beginning with Fillmore Avenue, then to Van Buren Avenue, and finally Tyler Avenue.
Traffic will experience interruptions and some inconveniences at those locations. Please reduce your speed and remain alert if traveling through the construction zone, for your safety and that of the construction worker.
