FOREST CITY – This Lake Mills High School teacher has found himself behind bars this morning, charged with heinous crimes against a child.
Skyler William Hudnut Ahrens is now in the Winnebago county jail in Forest City. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon in Forest City and booked into the jail on an active warrant on the following charges:
– Grooming a child (FELONY)
– Sexual exploitation of a minor (FELONY)
– Distributing obscene material to a child via phone (AGGRAVATED MISDEMEANOR)
Ahrens, age 36, is listed in a document obtained by NIT as a married man and is employed as a teacher at Lake Mills High School, and is still on the school district’s website:

According to a 2018 newspaper article in Lake Mills, “Lake Mills Commumity School has hired Skyler Ahrens to serve as the head girls track and field coach and will be teaching in the physical education department. Ahrens will be coming to Lake Mills from the Waterloo Community School District. Within the Waterloo school district, Skyler spend the past four years at Waterloo East High School, where he was a physical education, strength and conditioning, and health teacher. During his time at East, he was also an assistant football coach, assistant boy’s track coach, and assistant baseball coach.”
Ahrens remains jailed at this time on $30,000 bond as he awaits a court appearance.
