MASON CITY – A Mason City woman evidently did not learn any lesson from two prior drunk driving convictions as she allegedly drove to a local fast food joint and collided with another vehicle, prompting cops to wait out her drive-thru visit and cuff the suspect.
A property damage collision incident was investigated by Mason City police on the evening of March 4, 2025. At 4:31 PM that day, reports of a collision hit and run at McDonald’s, 1651 4th Street SW, were taken. Police went to the Willowbrook Mall and McDonald’s area to investigate. Police tell NIT that a bystander indicated the run vehicle pulled into the McDonalds (West) drive-thru. Officers waited for the driver to exit the drive-thru and then stopped her. During the collision investigation, the investigating officer began to suspect driver impairment. An investigation into her level of impairment was initiated.
As a result of the incident, the driver, 65-year-old Colleen Agnes Davis of Mason City, was then placed under arrest for felony third-offense operating while intoxicated.
Davis was transported to the Cerro Gordo county jail, booked, and soon released. She now awaits a preliminary hearing scheduled for March 25 at 1:15 PM.
Police say damage on the parked car that Davis allegedly hit appears to be minor, and Davis’ car damage appears to be minor, also.
Records show Davis was charged with first-offense operating while intoxicated in December of 2014 by the Cerro Gordo county sheriff, and was later guilty, costing her $1,578.75. A year later, the sheriff arrested her again, this time for second-offense operating while intoxicated, this time costing her $2,641.25.
