MASON CITY – First Citizens National Bank announced Tuesday the addition of Dan Varnum to its Board of Directors.
Varnum is the President and CEO of Mercy Medical Center – North Iowa.
“Varnum is an accomplished healthcare leader with over 25 years of experience in developing, leading, and improving organization performance. He is an enthusiastic problem solver with expertise leading strategic change efforts,” First Citizens said in a statement this week.
“Previously, Varnum served as Vice President of Performance Improvement and Professional Services at Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines. His leadership in implementing operational improvement strategies enhanced customer satisfaction, created improved performance within various departments of the medical center, as well as captured significant savings to the organization.”
Varnum joins other board members, which include George Jessen, President of Heartland Asphalt, Inc. in Mason City; Marti Rodamaker, President, CEO & Chairman of the Board of First Citizens National Bank, and O.J. Tomson, Chairman of the Board of First Citizens Financial Corp.
All three men listed above were also named to Mayor Eric Bookmeyer’s “Exploratory Committee” this week. The committee is exploring a possible re-election bid for Bookmeyer.
