Brad Alan Duckert, 51, of Mason City, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly February 16, 2025.

A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Brad was born June 2, 1973 in Mason City; son of Melvin (Barb) Duckert and Leona (Jim) Sallee. He graduated from Mason City High School and went on to enlist in the United States Army. After his time in the service, Brad returned to Mason City where he worked as a tattoo artist and co-owner of River City Tattoo as well as in construction with Universal Wall.

Brad had a passion for cooking. His kitchen was a place of endless experimentation, a haven where he fearlessly tackled new recipes and techniques. While not every dish was a masterpiece, each attempt was a testament to his dedication to the craft. Brad worked to bring his cooking to the next level, keeping an eye on SCA state cooks and other competition cooking. Back in the day he loved working on cars in his garage; his 1967 GT500 Fastback was one of his favorite projects. He also enjoyed hunting and the yearly fishing trips to Canada. Those annual excursions became a treasured tradition, etching lifelong memories into the hearts of all who accompanied him.

Those left to honor his memory are his children; Samantha Amy Duckert, Gavin Duckert, Tucker Duckert, and Piper Duckert; grandson, Bentley Duckert; parents, Melvin (Barb) and Leona (Jim); siblings, Joseph (Lanee) Duckert and Kimberly (Shawn) Opstvedt; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.

Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Dick and Lila O’Donnell.
