MASON CITY – A Mason City woman was dealt pain after the car she was riding in collided with a deer outside Mason City.

On Saturday, February 8, 2025, at approximately 6:10 PM, the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the area of 255th Street and Jonquil Avenue for a report of a property damage collision, involving a single vehicle, that struck a deer. Robert Thompson, 67, of Mason City, was eastbound on 255th Street and struck a deer that entered the roadway from the North. Deputy was later advised that the front passenger, Cheryl Thompson, 60, of Mason City was complaining of slight pain from the seatbelt.
