OAKLAND, Calif. – UNI men’s basketball’s Tytan Anderson has been named to the Bracketeer.org Preseason All-American watchlist, as announced by Bracketeer.org on Thursday morning.
Anderson, a Eldridge, Iowa native and senior forward for the Panthers, is among 68 players selected to the watchlist who are poised to be all-conference level performers across 22 non-power conferences. Bracketeer.org also announced a preseason player of the year selection in Grand Canyon’s Tyon Grant-Foster, as well as three, five-player preseason All-American teams.
Eligible conferences include the Missouri Valley (MVC), America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA), Conference USA, the Horizon League, the Ivy League, Mid-Atlantic (MAAC), Mid-Eastern (MEAC), Northeastern (NEC), Ohio Valley (OVC), Patriot League, Southern (SoCon), Southland, Southwestern (SWAC), the Summit League, Sun Belt and Western (WAC).
Anderson (pictured at top), a Preseason First Team All-MVC selection this year, started all 33 games for Northern Iowa last season with an 11.9 points per game average with 28.4 minutes played per contest. He led the Panthers with 7.1 rebounds per game along with a team-high 42 steals and 21 blocked shots while shooting 49.2% from the field. Recording five double-doubles last season and joining the program’s 500 career point club, Anderson notably set UNI’s postseason record with 19 boards against Belmont in the MVC Tournament quarterfinals.
