MANLY – Residents and visitors to Manly are warned that their cars might be the target of a burglary if they are left unlocked.

The Manly Police Department issued this statement Friday:

“The Police Department has been made aware of a situation from early hours this morning. Referencing cars being rifled through. So far it was contained to certain areas and just to vehicles left unlocked. It is best practice to not leave valuables in your vehicle, or at least not in plain view, and while it may be a slight inconvenience, locking your vehicle doors has shown to be a significant deterrent here. The most current information is that a group of individuals on bicycles came from south of Manly, presumably the Mason City area, to commit these offenses. If anyone has information or video in regards to this incident please contact the Manly Police Department. ”

Police further divulged that, “thus far only reports of unlocked cars, that were on two streets on East side of town.”
