MASON CITY – Bullets struck a building at a Mason City apartment complex early Thursday morning, sending police to the scene to investigate the community’s latest shooting incident.

On April 7, 2022, around 2 AM, residents at the West Side Manor Apartments (on S Taft Ave) reported hearing multiple gunshots that were followed by a car speeding out of the parking lot and leaving the area. MCPD officers responded and found evidence that several rounds were fired from the parking lot.

“A few rounds struck the nearby apt building located at 2327 S Taft Ave.,” police said today.

“There are no reports of injury so far,” police divulged. “It also does not appear that any of the rounds penetrated the exterior of the apt building.

“It is unknown if this incident is related in any way to the shooting that occurred before 1 AM on April 6 in a different Mason City neighborhood,” police said, referring to the shooting at 814 North Federal Avenue that left one victim hospitalized with a gunshot wound.

Persons with information as to the motive or participants involved are asked to contact the Mason City Police Department.

West Side Manor Apartments, back in 2017, was the scene where an alleged violent domestic abuser was hunted down and caught by cops.

  1. Maybe the city needs to look into Casey’s? All these shootings are within a radius from a Casey’s store?
