WINDSOR HEIGHTS – A man was shot in this Des Moines suburb during a fight Saturday night.
On Saturday, July 31, 2021, at approximately 1:13 am officers with the Windsor Heights Police Department were dispatched to a fight in the 6400 block of Washington Avenue. Officers were told two males were fighting and a short time later, officers were told one of the males had been shot during the fight.
When officers arrived, they found a 41-year-old male Windsor Heights resident with a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Officers continue to investigate the incident and have been in contact with the Polk County Attorney’s office regarding the investigation. Officers from the Clive Police Department and the West Des Moines Police Department assisted with the initial call for service.
There was never any danger to the public associated with this incident, and the incident is not a random act.
This kind of stuff wouldn’t happen if we just had more guns.
