DES MOINES – A cop who shot and killed an Iowa woman who was holding two knives won’t face prosecution after he and other law enforcement failed to de-escalate the confrontation.

Melissa Halda, 39, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, was shot four times by officer Brett Knippel back on August fourth at a rural Fort Dodge residence.  She was allegedly armed with two knives and behaving erratically.  Police claim they could not use a taser due to her size and speed, and at least one cop was stumbling in the grass as Halda moved about.  Knippel fired the fatal shots.

The Iowa Attonrey General says the shooting was “entirely justified”.

  1. There was a time when a stick upside the head would have ended this females problems. With men it’s most likely a bullet. Men are stronger, quicker, and more savage than women. But nowadays everybody will be shot with a gun. Asset the threat. Men are way more dangerous but that’s not to say women are just as equally cruel also. One thing is for certain. Americans have so many guns that they will never go away. Neither will the killings. Who’s doing the killings? The people with the guns. Common sense said she probably wasn’t a knife thrower from the circus. Should have knocked her out. Shoot to kill is the sign of a marksman.

  2. Ridiculous headline from knee jerk progressive. If you actually read the report from the Iowa Dept of Justice, the facts don’t support your blatantly cop hating slant at all.
