Three tips to beat boredom at home during the pandemic

Although businesses across Iowa reopened in May, many people are staying home more than they used to as a precaution against contracting Covid-19. But being homebound more doesn’t have to mean being bored more. It may be some time until live entertainment venues, restaurants and houses of worship get up and running like before the pandemic, so here are some ideas on how you can stay entertained in the comfort and safety of your own Iowa home.

Late-night TV for most tastes

While many drama series and movies have had to halt production because of the pandemic, late-night talk shows are continuing unabated. Whether you’re a fan of Colbert, Conan, Kimmel, or Corden, they’ve all soldiered on, producing their programs from their very own homes. Now restrictions have been lifted, some shows have even started beginning to return to temporary studios. Conan O’Brien was the first to move production from his home, opting to film at the Largo Theater in Los Angeles. Jimmy Fallon has returned to 30 Rock, but has opted to move the Tonight Show to a different studio though his usual live studio audience isn’t allowed. Now these much-loved comedians are slowly returning to their studios, they are freer to do produce the sketch-based comedy that we’ve all come to enjoy over the past few decades. It’s still not clear when we’ll be able to see another Carpool Karaoke though, as it’s unlikely the restrictions will let any celebrity spend that long with James Corden in a confined space anytime soon.

A full house at home

One of the many businesses in Iowa forced to close their doors during the pandemic were bingo halls. Though restrictions have been lifted, it’s hard to know when most people will feel it’s safe enough to gather once again to mark off the numbers on their tickets. Luckily the beloved game can be played from the comfort of your own home. There are many different online games you can play from your laptop, smartphone or tablet. If you’re unsure which one is right for you, check out the Bingo Sites Reviewer website who can help find an online bingo game with all features you’re after, whether you just want to play for small amounts of money or want to try something a little different.

Exercise the body as well as the mind

When it comes to exercise, many of us often moan that we’re too busy or don’t have the time to get into shape. More time at home could be the perfect opportunity to get going on those health goals. There are a number of apps and videos that can help you work out at home, even if you don’t have any equipment. You’ll be surprised at how hard a workout you can complete from the comfort of your home or yard. As you get fitter, you could even try out military-inspired exercise regimes or work towards that triathlon you’ve dreamed of completing.
