IOWA CITY – An Iowa prison inmate convicted of drunk driving died while in captivity.
Randal Ray Norgaard was pronounced dead due to natural causes at 12:40 a.m. this morning at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinic where he was being treated due to chronic illness. Norgaard was 69 years old at the time of his death.
Norgaard had been serving a 2-year sentence for the crime of OWI 2nd Offense [321J.2(2)(b)] from Woodbury County. His sentence began on September 18, 2019.
