Women’s College Basketball: UNI falls to Ohio State, 64-46

LAS VEGAS – The UNI women’s basketball team fell to Ohio State 64-46 Saturday night in the final game of the South Point Thanksgiving Shootout at the South Point Arena in Las Vegas.

UNI struggled to find an offensive rhythm, shooting and Ohio State jumped out to an 8-2 lead and never looked back.

Ohio State led by as much as 23, but UNI battled to cut the lead to 55-46 with 1:30 to play before the Buckeyes closed the game on a 9-0 run.

UNI held Ohio State to just 4-16 (25%) from three, but the Buckeyes outscored UNI 42-8 in the paint.

The OSU defense held UNI to 14-61 (23%) from the field and tallied eight blocks on the day.

Kam Finley was a bright spot for UNI. She scored a game-high 16 points and was 4-8 (50%) from the three-point line.

Three Ohio State players scored in double figures. Dorka Juhasz led the Buckeyes with 14 points.

UNI falls to 5-2 on the year while Ohio State is 4-3 on the season.

The Panthers travel to Omaha for a pair of games. UNI meets Creighton on Dec. 8 at 1 p.m. before playing Omaha Dec. 10 at 7 p.m.
