Pedestrian struck and killed by car in Worth county

KENSETT, IOWA – A Kensett man died after being struck by a car in Worth county Friday evening.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, at 5:21 PM on May 3, 2019, 58-year-old Rick Johnson of Kensett, Iowa was walking eastbound one-eighth mile east of Ironwood Avenue on 390th Street as an eastbound 2013 Volkswagon Passat approached, driven by 42-year-old Luke Beeken of Mason City. Johnson was struck while in the roadway by Beeken’s Passat. As a result of the accident, Johnson was killed.

The accident remains under investigation.

The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Worth County
Sheriff’s Office, Mercy Air Med, Hanlontown Fire & Rescue, and Forest City
Ambulance Service.
