MASON CITY – The Mason City Earth Day Committee has scheduled the city’s 24th annual community-wide cleanup and rally, held in conjunction with Earth Day and Earth Week, for Saturday, April 22.
Cleanup teams will collect trash in designated areas from 8 to 10 a.m., followed by a rally from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lime Creek Nature Center just north of Mason City.
The post-cleanup rally will feature food, music, educational booths and Earth Day-related activities for persons of all ages, said Missy Nicholson, Earth Day Committee Chair. Several prizes will be awarded to cleanup teams and individuals at the end of the rally, followed by a “Walk for Science” on the nature center trails.
