Mason City man guilty of 8 no-contact order violations in felony domestic assault case

MASON CITY – A Mason City man is guilty of 8 no-contact order violations and has been given a lengthy jail sentence.

Mason City police were called to 231 8th Street SE on December 18 as a domestic incident was reported. After an investigation, 26-year-old King Allah James was arrested for Serious Domestic Assault and Felony Domestic Assault (Strangulation-involved). Mason City Fire Medics did respond and assist with the call. The victim was not transported to the hospital by the fire department.

James was jailed and released by the next day. However, he soon found himself back behind bars for civil and criminal counts of violating the court-ordered no-contact order in this case.

Later, a warrant for James’ arrest was issued by a judge, and Mason City police located him at Mercy Hospital, 1000 4th Street SW, around noon on March 14.

James was jailed on a fifth-degree theft charge for an alleged crime committed in Mason City on March 12. In connection to the felony domestic abuse case, records show James violated a judge’s no-contact order 8 times in December of 2016 and that he has been found guilty of each count. The sentences handed down, ranging from 7 to 15 days, are to be served consecutively, records show, adding up to 103 days in jail.

He also faces a contempt of court charge.
