MASON CITY – A Mason City man must serve a 6 month jail term after numerous public intoxication arrests.

Timothy Scot Lumley, age 55, was sentenced in July to spend 180 days behind bars with work release granted after yet another public intoxication arrest by Mason City police. He must also pay $220.00 in court fees and submit a DNA sample. The court is working to garnish his wages to make sure payment is made.

Lumley’s record includes numerous arrests for public intoxication, going back years to the mid-1990’s. Among many other charges, he has also been convicted of felony domestic abuse assault twice after several arrests for that violent crime; his latest conviction was in 2009. He still owes over $1,600 to the courts in that case.

Lumley will be back in court for a jury trial on October 18 to face yet another public intoxication charge brought by Mason City police after they arrested him on July 3.

  1. Great-garnish his wages and he will just quit working and sell drugs. If he wants to get drunk, let him. As long as he is not hurting anyone else.

    1. I would say he is hurting more than just himself as is usually the case with alcohol.

      Quote from article:
….he has also been convicted of felony domestic abuse assault twice after several arrests for that violent crime.

  2. And yet people say alcohol is safer than marijuana. I have never seen or known of marijuana to do the damage that alcohol does to our society. Yet alcohol is widely accepted by society and marijuana is shunned.
