ROCKWELL, IOWA – A Mason City woman was taken to Mercy Hospital after an auto collision near Rockwell.
According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, the two-car crash took place Wednesday at about 9:00 AM on Highway 65 near 140th Street – about a mile south of Rockwell. A 2008 Pontiac Torrent driven northbound on Highway 65 by 20-year-old Samantha Allen of Mason City crossed the center line of the highway. The Pontiac then collided with a southbound 1996 Buick Park Avenue driven by 51-year-old Tami Balhagen of Sheffield, Iowa. The vehicles collided in the southbound lane.
Samantha Allen was injured and taken to Mercy Hospital by Mason City fire medics. Her condition was not revealed. She was said to be on her way home from the veterinarian’s office with her cat, which survived the crash but ran away from the scene.
Balhagen was not injured.
Charges are pending in the accident.
