Mason City council denies liquor license to Northside Liquor

MASON CITY – This week, the Mason City council unanimously denied a liquor license to the troubled Northside Liquor retail store.

At Tuesday’s city council meeting, the council voted on an agenda item of denial of a Class E Retail Alcohol and Tobacco License for Northside Liquor, located at 1303 N Federal Avenue. A motion was made by At-Large councilman Paul Adams and seconded by Fourth Ward councilman John Jaszewski to deny the Class E Retail Alcohol and Tobacco License for Northside Liquor. Discussion followed regarding the reason for the denial, who would be operating the business after the denial, possible changes to the City Code, other establishments, etc.

WATCH DISCUSSION:

The Mason City Police Department and Mason City Fire Department responded to a report of a stabbing at Northside Liquor at 12:56 PM on Friday, July 7, 2023. One suspect was arrested.
