MASON CITY – A jailhouse altercation has lead to assault charges being brought against two inmates.
According to a Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s report, two inmates at the jail, Cody Dale Kittleson, 21, and Michael Aaron Cordell Canady, 22, were involved in an altercation on Thursday, January 3rd that lead to both men being charged with simple assault, a misdemeanor.
According to records, Kittleson and Canady both plead guilty the next day and both received 1 more day in jail and $60 in court costs.
Kittleson is already in jail on charges of serious assault, stalking and harassment.
Canady is in jail on charges of drug possession, 5th degree theft and pubic intoxication. Canady is no stranger to the Cerro Gordo County Jail. He was arrested last February for a large fight at the now-closed Alley Katz bar.

I wish the Sheriff’s department would have let it go. Let these guys cage fight out there. Let them beat each others brains in. The winner get’s to eat his next meal and the loser has to skip one.
Sorry, I know it sounds crude, but to commit crime when you are in jail just tells me you don’t want to change, you don’t want to improve your life. What more can we do with these people?

One, that was a heartless comment regarding a fine pilot and his crew, (Three deaths,) and two, you have no facts regarding the patient in Emmetsburg, that they were picking up. You said that this crash caused his/her death. Do you know that for a fact?
All I am saying is that I as a taxpayer am getting sick of paying for these repeat offenders at the county jail. Do you want them to come live with you so you can tell them to play nice Gma Jean?
