Mason City man jailed for a month after plea deal in domestic abuse case

NORTHWOOD – A Mason City man faced a felony domestic abuse charge in Worth county and cut a plea deal that sent him to jail for a month.

Danny Ham, age 42, was charged on March 3, 2015, in Worth county by the sheriff’s office there with third or subsequent offense domestic abuse assault. The alleged crime took place the previous day.

Hamm initially entered a not guilty plea, but in June, changed that to a guilty plea to a charge of first offense domestic abuse assault. At sentencing last month, Hamm was given a 180 day jail sentence with all but 30 days suspended. He was also put on probation for a year. Hamm is currently serving his sentence in the Cerro Gordo County Jail.
