Elderly drivers collide, total their cars on lonely Iowa road

AURORA, IOWA – Two elderly drivers were hospitalized after a crash on a desolate Iowa highway this weekend.

On Saturday April 18, 2015 at 2:21 PM, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a two vehicle accident on G Avenue, north of 10th Street, outside of Aurora, Iowa. When Deputies arrived, it was learned that 65-year-old Carol Dettbarn of Aurora was turning into a driveway with her 2007 Buick, when she turned into the path of a 2006 Chevy Impala operated by 75-year-old Martin Holten of Cedar Rapids.

Both drivers were transported by ambulance for injuries and both vehicles were totaled. The accident remains under investigation.

If the elderly in North Iowa ever all quit driving there would be lots of business going out of business because of the loss of revenue.

At least they didn’t kill anybody, time to hang up the reins? I’m going to hate it when that time comes for me..
