Supreme Court will finally decide same-sex marriage

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Friday to decide whether same-sex marriage will be legal in all 50 states.

A ruling may come as early as June in this highly-controversial issue. Some states, such as Iowa and Minnesota, already have made same-sex marriage legal. Others, like Utah, continue to fight against allowing same sex marriage.

The nine justices met Friday and decided to review a 2-1 decision by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit that upheld bans on same-sex marriage in Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky and Tennessee. The decision marked the first time a federal appeals court backed a same-sex marriage ban. Other appellate courts had earlier found similar bans unconstitutional.

Two questions will be answered by the court: Does the 14th Amendment require a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex? And does the 14th Amendment require a state to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-state?

A little late for this. Leave religion out of it and use some common sense.
