MASON CITY – The Mason City Jaycees will hold a dog wash and dog treats bake sale in Mason City’s Central Park from 9 am to 1 pm on September 6. The dog washing headquarters will be directly in front of the Historic Park Inn. A brush/wash/dry will be $10, or a larger donation can be given if desired. The price includes a few reward treats for the dog. There will be homemade dog treats available for purchase until we run out. Our main sponsor this year is the Bark Break Hotel.

All proceeds will be donated to the Mason City Dog Park.

This is the dog wash’s second year. Last year the jaycees washed 38 dogs and raised $679 for the dog park.

The park is an accessible fenced-in, off-leash dog park where well-behaved canine citizens can exercise in a clean, safe environment with their owners without disruption or endangerment to the citizens, wildlife, or property within the Mason City community. The park has a 6′ high fence with double entry, for entering and exiting the park safely. In the future there will be fountains for humans and dogs, walking paths, landscaping, benches, and waste stations with bags throughout. The dog park is the north side of 13th St. NE (also known as 12th St.) & West of Elm Drive in Mason City. The Winnebago River Trail to the Lime Creek Nature Center is easily accessible from this location. Nearly $60,000 in funds have been raised so far for the dog park. The park officially opened on August 18, 2014.

The Junior Chamber (The Jaycees) organization is a constructive action organization of young people aged 21-40 who devote a portion of their time to community service in the public interest, developing young people as leaders of their community. We promote community development through participation in local projects while providing learning, leadership and social opportunities to members.

  1. A friend of mine took her 2 dogs to the grand opening and later that night both her dogs got sick. Probably from drinking out of the same water bowl as the others They only had one.

  2. I’ll call your bluff! Will you be willing to post a written manifest of some sort for the public to view? Some people need to know if all the money that is raised will for sure go to the dog park. I doubt that it will.
