CLEAR LAKE – Cerro Gordo GOP Chairman Gabriel M. Haugland announced today that Governor Rick Perry (R-TX) will be returning to north Iowa on July 19th and 20th for a series of events with local Republicans.
Chairman Haugland stated, “I am so pleased that Gov. Perry is coming back to north Iowa to meet with local Republicans again and share his vision for a more prosperous Nation. It’s no secret that under Governor Perry, Texas’ economic growth has exploded and it is clear to all Americans that Republican governors like Rick Perry and Terry Branstad are providing the best quality of life for their constituents.”
Cerro Gordo GOP co-chair Barbara Hovland said, “Iowa is very fortunate to play such an important part of the political process. To be able to meet with political leaders and candidates is such an important part of citizens arming themselves with knowledge before election day. I encourage all north Iowa Republicans to join us!”
Perry will participate in the North Iowa Conservatives Event (N.I.C.E.) on July 19th at 5pm in Algona High School Commons and will then headline a BBQ fundraiser for the Cerro Gordo County GOP from 3-5pm on the grounds of the Mason City Airport on the afternoon of July 20th. He will also have lunch with local military Veterans, EMS personnel, first responders, and law enforcement members in Clear Lake on July 20th.

@ Katie, yes, what Gene said is true. I know, because I asked Bookmeyer about it. He admitted he wanted to meet Steve Minert, This was right after he took office over five years ago. So he asked Blodgett to arrange it. The three met for lunch at the MC Country club, things took off from there.

Well I have never called him “Toddy Boy.” I referred to him as Mr. Todd a few times. The only reason I decided to research the real story on his involvement with Resistance Records (the racist skinhead record label) was because people constantly mention his name here on NIT, and I needed to know for myself what the story was. I left MC in 1986 and really didn’t keep up on local politics for many decades. It’s actually impressive his involvement with the Reagan White house.
