ALBERT LEA, Minnesota – Alliant Energy’s Iowa utility supported efforts by Ventura Foods to install energy efficient equipment at the company’s processing facility in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Ventura Foods completed several energy efficiency projects, including installation of a new air compressor, no-loss condensate drains, cycling air dryer and additional compressed air storage. The company expects the new energy efficiency equipment to reduce energy usage and increase cost savings.

“We appreciate the partnership with Alliant Energy to upgrade the energy efficiency of our facility,” said Nicholas Beyer, Ventura Foods controller. “We were able to complete a number of projects that will enable our facility to reduce energy usage and costs, which benefits our customers. The investment in the energy efficiency projects is already providing energy and cost savings for our company.”

The projects were completed under Alliant Energy’s Custom Rebate energy program. Ventura Foods expects to achieve annual energy savings of approximately 193,000 kilowatt-hours per year. The energy savings will result in avoiding more than 136 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This is equivalent to removing approximately 29 passenger vehicles from Minnesota roadways or the amount of carbon dioxide sequestered by more than 112 acres of forest in the United States.

In addition to the anticipated energy savings, the company received a $35,780 rebate for the projects.

“Ventura Foods continues its commitment to pursuing innovative projects that increase the energy efficiency of their facility while reducing their costs of production,” said Rebecca Gisel, Alliant Energy key account manager. “We are proud to partner with the company on these projects and we will continue to look for ways to further increase the energy efficiency of their facility.”
