MASON CITY – Continuing the celebration of 100 years, the Mason City Woman’s Club Christmas program is being held on Tuesday December 11, 2012 starting at 1pm at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The Iowa Andrew Sisters will be performing and we’ll enjoy the Twelve Days of Christmas in Iowa. Lots of holiday goodies and refreshments will be served during the tea immediately following the program. It promises to be an afternoon that will get the holiday season started in style! Wear your holiday sweater. Wear a holiday pin. Wear a Santa hat. Bring your holiday spirit!

In keeping with tradition, the Woman’s Club will again hold a food drive for Hawkeye Harvest Food Bank. During the past year, the Food Bank distributed food boxes to make 165,612 meals for 13,801 individuals which was a huge increase from 2011 and the numbers aren’t decreasing. Bring canned goods to donate to the Food Bank. We’re also giving to another organization that we have supported in the past as well – Crisis Intervention. The Service Shelter accommodates 18 individuals daily so there’s always a demand for supplies. These items are urgently needed for the shelter: women’s socks and underwear, toilet paper, paper towels, all-purpose cleaners, twin size bed sheets, diapers size 4, 5 & 6, all sizes of pull-ups, dishwashing liquid, juice or drink mixes as well as boxed/canned foods. There will be boxes available at the December 11th program for donations.
