DES MOINES – Opponents and supporters of same-sex marriage held dueling events at the Iowa Statehouse on Tuesday, March 20, 2012. Both sides of the debate are gearing up for the November election. Democrats control the Iowa Senate, 26-24. Should Republicans regain control in November, a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage will more likely pass two consecutive General Assemblies and go before voters.
