Wanted woman who who refused to return to Beje caught by police

MASON CITY – A local woman who was supposed to remain incarcerated at the Beje Clark halfway house but never returned was caught days later by police.

Mason City police confirmed Monday that 39-year-old Shawnatasa Cherrise Parker was reported absent from Beje on on January 20, 2014. She had been excused to attend an appointment but did not return. A warrant for her arrest was soon issued.

Police located her at 5 North Jefferson Avenue on January 26th on the warrant due to absence and three other warrants. Those warrants stemmed from shoplifting from Kohl’s (Theft 3rd degree), check forgery (from July, 2013), and a theft charge from Burke’s Bar in Jan 2013 (an unpaid bill).

Parker had received a deferred judgement in all three of those cases, but police said now that a request to revoke her probation has been filed in court.  She remained jailed at the Cerro Gordo County Jail Monday on multiple bond amounts awaiting a court date next month.
