All annex classrooms are set for incoming eighth graders in Mason City. The classrooms are just east of the high school near the parking lot. The running track resurfacing is nearly complete. Above: Portable classrooms set for Mason City 8th graders.|Full update from Mason City schools officials:
Phase 1 ñ Blazek Electric
– A couple panels remain to be switched over to the new electrical system. These will be done at off hours. The High School 2 story electrical service is completed.
– Misc. remaining items include panel labeling, exhaust fans at electrical room, and cleanup.
Phase 2 ñ Holland Contracting
– Cooling tower masonry wall will be complete in a couple of weeks.
– Cooling towers are set. Mechanical pipe will start next week and last about two weeks.
– Control wiring and equipment is being installed in the boiler and chiller rooms.
Phase 3A ñ Larson Contracting
– Kitchen plumbing rough in is complete. Concrete floors will progress in the next two weeks.
– Wall and ceiling framing is ongoing in the HS dining area.
– Structural steel will arrive next week and JAMS dining area will begin getting set the week of July 11th.
Phase 3B ñ Henkel Construction
– Henkel is completing wall demolition in JAMS music rooms and adjacent areas. Will move into 2nd floor once the asbestos clearances are confirmed.
– Started excavation work at NW corner of building for lower level mechanical room.
– Asbestos abatement contractor will be finished tomorrow. As ceilings are removed in the first level of JAMS, some asbestos is being found in the plumbing elbows. The contractor will come back at a later date when all of the ceilings are removed to determine if more abatement is needed in these areas.
JAMS 8 (Annex) – Henkel Construction
– All of the Annex classrooms are set. Henkel has started stair and deck foundations and interior work will begin this week.
