Patsy Ruth “Pat” Myers, 89, of Mason City, Iowa, passed peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2026, at Heritage Care Center, surrounded by the care and comfort of those around her.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at First Assembly of God, 1301 North Carolina Ave, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Vince DiBenedetto officiating. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held the following day, Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa.
Pat was born on May 3, 1936, in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Chamberlain) Asa. She was raised and educated in East St. Louis, graduating from local schools. On September 27, 1979, she was united in marriage to Michael “Mike” Myers in Wichita Falls, Texas, beginning a partnership built on love. In her working years, Pat was a self taught cake decorator and owned her own bakery before being employed at Hy-Vee and later at Dairy Queen. She and Mike made their home in Mason City in 1990, where they built a life filled with family and community.
Pat was a devoted member of First Assembly of God, where her faith was an important part of her life. She found joy in singing and being part of the church ensemble. She enjoyed sewing and cooking and often shared what she made with family and friends. Above all, she treasured time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and took great pride in her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 46 years, Mike; her children, Susan (Steven) McClure of Phoenix, Arizona, Christopher (Periann) Myers of Houston, Texas, Richard (Jennifer) Myers of Lexington, South Carolina, and Anthony Myers of Seattle, Washington; her grandchildren, Brandi (John) Clayton, Kristi Butenhoff, Ami Weese, JoHannah (Josh) Chambers, April Hammer, Kate Myers, Daniel Myers, Megan Myers, Michael Myers, Rebekah Myers, and Anime Hargis; her great-grandchildren, Jason, Kirsten, Alex, Magdalena, Madalehn, Joseph, Riley, Samuel, and Ruth; along with numerous extended family members and friends who will remember her kindness and gentle spirit.
She was preceded in death by her infant sons, Michael and Richard; her daughters, Sherry Butenhoff and Shelly Jennings; two sisters; and her parents, Ernest and Ruth.
Pat will be remembered for her steady faith, her caring heart, and the love she shared so freely with her family and friends.
