AMES – Police were called to a park in Ames Saturday morning after an item they called a “very dangerous glitter bomb” was found.
On November 21, around 7:45 AM, a suspicious item was found near the east entrance to East River Valley Park in Ames, Iowa, police say. The item appeared to be a homemade incendiary device. The State Fire Marshal office assisted police in an investigation and disposed of the device. The device was a homemade “glitter bomb” which are often used for expressing personal messages of congratulations.
“These devices are very dangerous,” Ames police said. “Officers checked the area and no other devices were located.”
Police believe this appears to be an isolated incident and no further threat to the public.
