August 16, 1963 – March 15, 2026

Ronald Glenn “Ron” Shackleton, 62, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2026, following a diagnosis of cancer.

Funeral Service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel, 126 3rd St NE, Mason City, Iowa, with Pastor Cory Allard from Bethel United Methodist Church of Manly officiating. Burial will follow at the Manly Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Hogan-Bremer-Moore Colonial Chapel.

Ron was born on August 16, 1963, in Osage, Iowa, to Gene and Gwen (Deets) Shackleton. He grew up in the Mason City area and graduated from the local high school. Though he faced developmental challenges, Ron lived a full and meaningful life, defined by connection, routine, and the simple joys he cherished each day.

Ron was a familiar and friendly presence in the community. He loved to socialize and could often be found striking up conversations wherever he went. Over the years, he worked at several local businesses, including Royal Fork and Hy-Vee West and more recently at Hy-Vee East, places he truly enjoyed. Even when he was not scheduled to work, Ron would often stop by just to visit at Hy-Vee. He also loved spending time at local favorites like Godfather’s Pizza and Subway, where he enjoyed good food and the opportunity to visit with others.

Music was a big part of Ron’s life. He had a wide-ranging collection of CDs and records and took great joy in listening to his favorite songs. He also enjoyed playing cards and had a collection of those as well. Ron liked to stay active and spent many hours riding his bicycle. Whenever he had the opportunity, he also enjoyed riding anything with a motor, something he found especially exciting since he was not able to have a driver’s license.

Above all, Ron valued time spent with others. He loved being with his family, friends, and extended family, and he also enjoyed relaxing with a good movie.

Ron’s life was a reminder that joy can be found in everyday moments and in the connections we share with one another.

Those left to cherish memories of Ron are his brothers, Scott (Kelli) Shackleton of Mason City, and Robert (Janell) Shackleton of Nora Springs; nieces and nephews; Jessica, Bethany (Cory), Levi (Kaitlyn), Dylan (Jamie), Brody, Kylie, Cole (Tamika), Sam (Kennedie), Shelby (Lane), Brayden, and Keigan; great-nieces and nephews, Andrew, Alyssa, Ashton, Anthony (Courtney), Bengamin (Heather), Ethan, Grahm, Jaxon, Jerzie, Avelyn, Nicholas, Paisley, Knox, Karson, Mirella, Riggs, Charles and Rosemary; as well as countless extended family members and friends.

Ron is preceded in death by his parents; as well as many aunts and uncles.
