Jeanette Brinkman, 70, of Charles City, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2025, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home in Charles City.

A funeral service for Jeanette Brinkman will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd with Pastor Paul Phillips officiating. Burial will be Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene, Iowa.

Jeanette Lynn Brinkman, the daughter of Glen and Virginia (Howe) Brinkman, was born November 10, 1954 in Charles City along with her twin sister, Jeanine. She graduated from Charles City High School and continued working on her parents’ dairy farm. Jeanette was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at the age of six and she lost her sight at the age of 22 due to complications from diabetes. Throughout her life she showed bravery and trust/faith in God while undergoing three organ transplants and numerous other health issues.

Jeanette lived in her grandparents’ home in Charles City and was blessed with two wonderful caregivers in her life, Bonnie Holtz and Lois Meyer. She never complained, was always concerned about others and stayed young at heart. Jeanette loved spending time with family and friends whether it be talking (especially about her love for cats), sharing a cup of coffee or reminiscing (Jeanette had a great memory). She enjoyed exercising, wintering in Texas, time spent at the beach, shopping (she loved to be in style with her new clothes), listening to the Jackson 5/Michael Jackson, sports (NFL and Caitlin Clark) and drawing (before she lost her sight).

Jeanette was a member of the Gospel Lighthouse Church in Floyd where she developed lifelong friendships and was able to share her great spiritual faith in God. She always found pleasure in the little things of life, had a positive attitude and definitely fought the good fight!

Living family members include her two brothers: Dennis (Jan) Brinkman of Greene and Douglas (Susan) Brinkman of Durham, North Carolina; twin sister, Jeanine Krueger of Floyd; nieces and nephews: Ann (Brent) Carstensen, Joshua (Bethany) Brinkman, Ryan (Jen) Krueger and Kevin (Amy) Krueger; several great-nieces and great-nephews; caregiver/friend, Lois Meyer; along with numerous cousins, other family members and friends.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; and caregiver/friend, Bonnie Holtz.

Jeanette’s family would like to express their gratitude to Bonnie Holtz, Lois Meyer and everyone at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home for the love and support they gave to Jeanette.
