ADAIR COUNTY, IOWA – A young Iowa man on a Suzuki motorcycle traveling “too fast” early Thursday morning failed to navigate an Interstate highway off-ramp and lost his life in a fatal crash.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, a motorcycle accident was reported on Thursday, September 16, 2025, in Adair county, about 50 miles west of Des Moines. The Patrol reported that a 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600 RS operated by 20-year-old Devon Michael Ernst of Adair, Iowa, was traveling westbound on Interstate 80 at 12:45 AM that morning. The Suzuki then attempted to take the exit 75 offramp, but failed to navigate the curve of the ramp. The motorcycle struck a culvert, causing Ernst, who was not wearing a helmet, to be thrown from the bike.

As a result, Ernst was pronounced deceased at the scene.
