FAYETTE – Police in this remote Northern Iowa community sniffed out a hidden meth lab and nabbed a suspect in the process.

On September 3rd, 2025, at approximately 5:39 pm a Fayette County Deputy arrested Andrew Michael Lawson age 39 of Fayette. Lawson has been charged with Possession of a controlled substance precursor with intent to manufacture methamphetamine (Class D Felony) and Possession of Lithium (Class D Felony). This investigation stems after Fayette County Deputies located a clandestine lab within the city limits of Fayette.

Lawson is being held in the Fayette County Jail awaiting his initial appearance.

This incident remains under investigation.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office and the Prairie Du Chien Police Department.
