MASON CITY – A shooting in Mason City’s East Park left a victim shot and police scrambling to locate suspects who fled the scene, and now one man is facing charges in connection to the incident.
NIT earlier reported that on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Mason City Police Department responded to a shooting call at East Park at approximately 9:12 PM. A caller reported to dispatch a fight and possible shots fired near State Street.
After police continued to investigate the incident, today, Mason City Chief of Police Jeff Brinkley announced that 18-year-old Ladainian Pannhoff (pictured at top) of Mason City, has been charged with being a prohibited possessor of a firearm. He was arrested on a warrant for that charge on April 28, 2025. He was booked into the Cerro Gordo County Jail where he posted bond, pending his next court appearance.
Chief Brinkley further explained that 18-year-old Ean Arp of Mason City was the person who sustained gunshot wounds during the incident. Arp was hospitalized at MercyOne North Iowa and has since been released.

“The parties in this incident were known to one another prior to the shooting,” Brinkley claimed.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing, and anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Criminal Investigation Division at the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.
Records show Pannhoff was busted by Mason City police for marijuana possession on April 29, and he awaits a hearing in court set for May 22. He was also charged with felony assault last year in Eldora, but the charge was dropped.
Oh look, a doctor and/or engineer. TND when?
You are a racist and a despicable person.
You disapprove of him using left wing talking points?
Do you know what TND means?
Traditional Neighborhood Development?
I know you do but I was asking ‘nobody’. I also know you are trying to deflect away from your overt racism.
Pattern recognition isn’t racist.
but you are no matter how you phrase it.
Ignoring a problem doesn’t solve it.
I know. It happens all the time….just ask your parents.
