East Park in Mason City
MASON CITY – A Thursday night shooting in Mason City’s East Park has police scrambling to locate suspects who fled the scene as one victim was ambulanced to the emergency room.

Mason City police say that on Thursday, April 24, 2025, the Mason City Police Department responded to a shooting call at East Park at approximately 9:12 PM. A caller reported to dispatch a fight and possible shots fired near State Street.

Officers arrived in the area and found an adult male who was suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to MercyOne by Mason City Fire Department paramedics.

“We do not have an update on his condition at this time,” Chief Jeff Brinkley said.

The suspect fled the scene along with other involved parties and witnesses. One firearm was recovered during the investigation. Not all involved parties are cooperating with the police to assist in the investigation. Parties involved in this incident were known to one another and this incident is part of an ongoing feud.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Mason City Police Department at 641-421-3636.

The Mason City Police Department was assisted in the investigation by the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s Office.
