Iowa man chasing items that blew out his car struck and killed on Interstate

IOWA COUNTY - An elderly Iowa man left his vehicle to chase after items that had blown away, and was struck and killed on an Interstate highway by a passing motorist.

IOWA COUNTY – An elderly Iowa man left his vehicle to chase after items that had blown away, and was struck and killed on an Interstate highway by a passing motorist.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the incident took place on Thursday, April 3, 2025. At about 6 PM that evening near mile marker 219 on Interstate 80 in Iowa county, 76-year-old Roger Allen Evans of Victor, Iowa was attempting to cross Interstate 80 westbound lanes to retrieve items that had blown out of his vehicle. At this time and location, he was struck by a 2012 Buick LaCrosse driven by 47-year-old Alysia M. West of Millerburg, Iowa.

As a result, Evans was killed.
