RURAL CERRO GORDO COUNTY – A Northern Iowa woman is dead and a Mason City woman was hurt in a two-car collision Sunday afternoon.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the intersection of county roads B43 and S14. The Patrol says 29-year-old Adaisha Allen of Cedar Falls was traveling westbound on B43 in her 2017 KIA Forte. At the same time, 59-year-old Julie Mikkelsen of Mason City was traveling southbound on S14 in her 2004 Ford Expedition. Allen’s Forte was struck by Mikkelsen’s Expedition at the intersection. Both vehicles rolled into a ditch and field southwest of the intersection.
As a result of the collision, Allen was pronounced dead at the scene. Mikkelsen was transported to MercyOne North Iowa in Mason City.
The crash remains under investigation.
