CLEAR LAKE – An Iowa man charged in Clear Lake with felony domestic abuse with strangulation is facing more charges after police say they discovered another victim of his alleged rage.
On July 8, 2024, Clear Lake Police Department requested arrest warrants for Benjamin S. Mehmen, 28, of Duncan, IA for Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon, a Class C Felony and Domestic Abuse Assault Impeding the Flow of Air, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.
On July 9, 2024, Mehman (pictured at top) was arrested without incident at his residence. He is currently being held at the Cerro Gordo County Jail with no bond.
The additional charges stem from information obtained during a previous investigation conducted by the Clear Lake Police Department in April, when an additional victim was identified.
In April, 2024, Mehmen was charged with Domestic Assault with Strangulation (D Felony) and four counts of Intimidation with a Dangerous Weapon (C Felony), after a report to law enforcement that Mehman had assaulted a former girlfriend on several occasions.
Both incidents remain under investigation and no further information will be released at this time.
The Clear Lake Police Department was assisted by the Cerro Gordo County Attorney’s Office during this investigation.
