ANKENY – The City of Ankeny announced it has received a $20,000 public art grant from Bravo Greater Des Moines. This grant funding will be used to construct an approximately 425 foot concrete web glow trail that will connect to the east side of the High Trestle Trail, located just south of Uptown Ankeny.

The glow trail will be included as part of Phase One of the City’s new High Trestle Trail Experience Park. Phase One establishes a park-like environment and serves as the foundational canvas for the City to initiate projects outlined in Ankeny’s High Trestle Trail Public Art Master Plan. This plan included input from over 1,000 residents and was guided by a public steering committee who was actively engaged in identifying projects and project locations. The glow trail will be the first planned attraction along the trail in this area of the city and is expected to draw visitors and residents to experience this unique trail amenity.

Phase I of the High Trestle Trail Experience Park project will be bid this summer, with construction beginning late summer/early fall. Phase I is expected to be completed by spring 2025.

This City of Ankeny is home to more than 100 miles of trails, including the High Trestle Trail, Gay Lea Wilson Trail and Oralabor Gateway Trail.
