On Monday March 4, 2024, at approximately 12:17 PM, Waterloo police officers were made aware of possible human remains located at the Waterloo Waste Treatment Plant located in at 2550 Kenyon Ave. Waterloo patrol officers arrived and were directed into an area, where the remains were discovered. Waterloo police detectives and lab personnel were called into assist.
The remains will be taken to the Iowa Medical Examiner’s office for identification and a cause of death.
This is an active case and police asked for any possible tips from the public.
