Speeding Iowa motorcyclist dies in Interstate crash

CEDAR RAPIDS – An Iowa man police say was speeding on his motorcycle on an Interstate highway died after cashing into an SUV.

The motorcyclist involved in a Tuesday, August 22, 2023 collision on I-380 near the H Ave on-ramp in Cedar Rapids has passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash. The deceased motorcyclist has been identified as 30-year-old Ramius Hardiman of Cedar Rapids.

Hardiman was reported to have been speeding for several miles on I-380 northbound before colliding with an SUV and sustaining severe injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment but did not survive. The occupant(s) in the SUV were not injured in the collision.

I-380 was closed for more than two hours as crews investigated and cleared the scene for safe travel to resume.
