College Basketball: Iowa beats Truman State, coached by former Mohawk Jeff Horner, in exhibition, 118-72

IOWA CITY – Former Mason City Mohawk and Iowa Hawkeye point guard Jeff Horner brought his Truman State team to Carver Hawkeye Arena for an exhibition game, and lost, 118-72.

Forward Kris Murray posted game bests in points (24) and rebounds (7).

Tony Perkins and Connor McCaffery combined for 30 points on 11-of-13 field goal shooting, including 6-of-7 from 3-point range.

True freshman Dasonte Bowen was credited with a game-best eight assists.

Iowa shot 56 percent from 3-point territory tonight (14-of-25).

Truman State actually led in this game, 26-25, with 10 minutes left in the first half. However, Iowa led by 24, 63-39, at halftime.

UP NEXT

The Hawkeyes open the 2022-23 regular season on Monday, Nov. 7, against Bethune-Cookman. Tipoff is slated for 6 p.m. (CT) on Mediacom Court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
